It is possible to block the use of certain keywords in DT Max. You might wish to do this if these keywords were inappropriate for your practice, or if you wanted to restrict some employees from entering or changing certain aspects of your clients' data. Use the features of the Security system and System policy manager if you need to block keywords only for certain users.

This is an advanced feature, and most users should not block any keywords. Although any available DT Max keyword can be blocked (other than mandatory keywords) it does not make sense to block any keyword related to the basic generation of a tax return.

To block a keyword, select that keyword from the list on the left that contains all non-mandatory keywords, and click the "Block" button to move that keyword to the "Blocked keyword" list. To make a blocked keyword become available again, mark it in the "Blocked keywords" list at the right, and click the "Unblock" button.

Blocking a keyword prevents a user from entering that keyword in a client's data, deleting that keyword, or making any other changes to that keyword. If that keyword was already entered by another user, or automatically, it is not deleted and will be used by the program in the tax calculations etc.

The Blocked keywords control is found on the Preferences->Security system menu.
